Rafael Van der Vaart fired a dig at Ajax and former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The 33-year-old joined the Dutch giants from Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq last month.

Henderson, who made 492 appearances for Liverpool, netting 33 times, has yet to win any of his four matches since his arrival at Ajax.

His arrival at the club has been met with cutting remarks from former Ajax and Tottenham star Van der Vaart, who insists ‘nobody’ will be happy with him.

“Ajax have brought in players with zero quality. The club will now have to see out the rest of the season,” he said on Dutch TV.

“They have brought in Jordan Henderson. All he does is to play a little pass out wide, or a little pass back.

“But nobody will be happy with that.

“You’ll see on Thursday that they will get through their Conference League tie against Bodo/Glimt with all the luck in the world.

“Afterwards it’s best for them to get knocked out, and to make a fresh start next season.

“As an Ajax man my heart bleeds. I don’t know what I can say about them any more.”

Ajax drew 2-2 in their Europa Conference League play-off game against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt last week, having netted twice in stoppage time.

The Eredivisie giants are currently fifth domestically, 26 points behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven.
