I’d never played a single game in my new position but Philippe Clement has made it my favourite, Rangers star reveals

DUJON STERLING had never played a senior match in midfield until Philippe Clement asked him to do it.
Now the versatile Rangers star reckons it’s become his favourite position.
Sterling, 24, was signed last year as cover for James Tavernier at right-back.
Since then, he’s played at left-back, right midfield, central midfield, and even left wing.
Sterling said: “The first time I came on in midfield was for Rangers, I was learning as I went.
“Since then, I’ve learned these four or five positions, because each game it could change where I play.

“Each day I’ve been working on what to do in this position with the gaffer, taking notes and always learning.
“When I am playing in midfield I watched John Lundstram, who’s a prime example in our team.
“I try to bring something different to the rest of the midfielders.
“At Chelsea, you don’t play in one position, you get taught to play in all of them. So that has helped me at Rangers.

“I’d say now, probably midfield is my favoured position because it’s the most I’ve been playing there. But I’m just happy doing what needs to be done for the team.
“Whatever the gaffer needs from me, that’s what I’m willing to do.”
Meanwhile, Rangers have been drawn against Benfica in the last 16 of the Europa League.
The Portuguese giants are currently joint-top of their domestic league and present a tough opposition for the Light Blues.
Clement has called his side underdogs but believes they have a decent chance at going through.
He said: “It's a really exciting challenge because it's a really good team.
"I think it’ll be the first game when I’m here that we will be underdogs in a game. That is the reality.
"But that doesn't mean we can't qualify.
