Japhet Tanganga was in action for Millwall against Southampton on Saturday afternoon, and the performance of the Tottenham Hotspur-owned defender impressed Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison.
Tanganga joined Championship club Millwall on loan from Premier League outfit Tottenham in the January transfer window.
So, what has Clinton Morrison said about Tottenham Hotspur-owned defender Japhet Tanganga? Let’s take a look.
Praise for Tottenham Hotspur-owned Japhet Tanganga
Well, Millwall beat Southampton 2-1 away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Japhet Tanganga scored the opening goal of the match after just five minutes. The 24-year-old defender found the back of the net with a header and was defensively solid at centre-back.
Former Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison was following the match for Sky Sports, and he was impressed with the display produced by the centre-back, who joined Millwall on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
Morrison said on Sky Sports News (4:49 pm, February 24, 2024): “Millwall have defended excellently, and Tanganga has been outstanding, to be fair.”
My View: No future at Tottenham for Japhet Tanganga
In my opinion, Japhet Tanganga does not have a future at Tottenham Hotspur. I think that it would be best for the defender if he left Spurs for good in the summer transfer window.

Tanganga has been on the books of Tottenham since 2009 and has come through the youth academy. He is under contract at the North London club until the summer of 2025.
The 24-year-old, though, has failed to establish himself in the first team. While the defender has done well on occasions for Spurs, his loan spells at FC Augsburg in the first half of the season and now at Millwall suggest that he is not rated very highly at Tottenham.
After all, why would Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou let the defender leave on loan if he thought that he could be a star under him?
Moreover, Tanganga is 24 now. If he was going to become a success at Spurs, then it would have happened by now.
