Philippe Coutinho's blunt Aston Villa response as he refuses to discuss transfer
Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Philippe Coutinho refuses to discuss his future
Philippe Coutinho has refused to discuss his future, insisting he wants to “live in the moment” in Qatar.
Coutinho left Aston Villa to join Al-Duhail on loan last August, just over a year after moving to Villa Park permanently from Barcelona in a £17m deal. He does not appear to have a future at Villa under Unai Emery, despite being under contract until 2026.
And asked by Sport what his future holds beyond his loan at Al-Duhail, which expires at the end of the season, he said: “Don’t know. I just want to live in the moment, enjoy my teammates, my team, help them as much as I can and enjoy football here.”

Coutinho has been linked with David Beckham’s Inter Miami and a reunion with Lionel Messi in the MLS, having played with the Argentine at Barcelona. Asked if he would like to join Messi in Miami, he added: “As I told you, I only think about the moment. I want to be well, prepare well, play good games, and enjoy football. We never know what will happen in the future.
"My name always appears in the newspapers where they talk in all kinds of ways, good, bad. I try not to look at them and I am only concerned with doing my job well and enjoying myself.”
