Liel Abada suitors named as Celtic winger 'interested' in ripping up contract to seal quickfire exit

The winger has been left out of the squad for the last three Hoops fixtures by boss Brendan Rodgers.

The MLS clubs interested in signing Liel Abada before the end of the window have been named - with reports in Israel suggesting the winger could look to rip up his Parkhead contract to get the deal over the line.

The 22-year-old has been dropped from the matchday squad in the Hoops last three matches with boss Brendan Rodgers stating that the winger was not in the right frame of mind to step onto the pitch. The pro-Palestine stance among a section of the fanbase at Celtic Park has raised doubts about whether Israel international Abada can remain in Glasgow's east end amid the ongoing conflict.

A move Stateside is one of the final options with American sides still able to recruit players until April 23 - with Celtic and the player's agent locked in talks over a resolution for a player who only signed a new four-year deal last September - which would see him remain under contract until 2027.

Israeli outlet Sport 5 claim that Austin FC and Atlanta United are the two clubs that are "interested" in a deal. Both clubs have room on their list designated players - which allows MLS clubs to sign up to three players that would be considered outside their salary cap.

Atlanta believe they have a "good relationship" with the Scottish Premiership champions having brought Giorgos Giakoumakis from Glasgow's east end previously. Austin are said to view Abada as a player who can lead them to the playoff spots.

The report suggests that Abada is "interested" in "giving up a percentage of his future contract" in order to facilitate a permanent deal. The 22-year-old is said to be desperate to return to playing with one eye on Euro 2024 with Israel's success in the Nations League putting them just two play-off wins away from a spot in Germany.
