Sir Kenny Dalglish lists three qualities next Liverpool manager must have in message to FSG
Latest Liverpool news and gossip as club legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has spoken about the Reds' search for a new manager and sporting director ahead of Jurgen Klopp's exit this summer
Sir Kenny Dalglish has offered advice to whoever succeeds Jurgen Klopp as the next Liverpool manager - and issued a warning over the search for a sporting director.
Klopp announced in January that he would be stepping down from the hole as Reds boss at the end of the season. Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen and Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP have been listed as the early favourites for the future vacancy at Anfield.
Liverpool also have the task of searching for a new sporting director at the same time as a manager. Jorg Schmadtke left the club after the January transfer window, and now the Fenway Sports Group will be busy looking to appoint a replacement.
Dalglish appeared on the No Tippy Tappy Podcast and was asked about Liverpool's search for a new manager and sporting director. When asked for his thoughts on appointing a sporting director first, Dalglish says it's not something he agrees with.
"People do it in different ways," said Dalglish. "They bring in a sporting director first and then they bring the manager in.
"No for me, it would be the other way around."

Dalglish then went on to give his opinion on Klopp's decision to leave Liverpool. The Anfield icon said that he and other Reds fans will be supportive of Klopp's decision, even if there is sadness at the prospect of an exit in the summer.
"Although it was a huge disappointment among the Liverpool fans that this is going to be his [Klopp] final season, there is huge amount of gratitude towards him and acceptance," said Dalglish.
"So whatever he wants to do, they'll stand by him and they'll accept what he's going to do.
"The problem is how does the club go forward. But he's put it in a fantastic place."
Dalglish was then asked about Liverpool's search for a replacement for Klopp. Dalglish admitted that he wasn't sure who he would tip to be Klopp's successor, but did outline the qualities that they need in order to have the best chance for success.
"I would have thought it's fairly negative to say how can you follow him [Klopp]. But you just go in and be yourself," said Dalglish.
"You've got 90% of the good ingredients to make it a success for you. If you don't want to come in and have a go, for me they've made the wrong decision.
"But if you come in there and you've got all of that to work with and you trust yourself, and you've got a proper staff, I think it's a great job to get."
Dalglish added: "I don't know where they're going to go. You're not going to get somebody like him [Klopp], but you might get somebody that's successful but it another way.
"I think it's pretty obvious that the relationship that he's got with the fans is important. And for the next guy coming in, if he gets the same relationship then he's off to a good start.
"I'd just like to see somebody who knows what Liverpool is all about and is good at their job. Time will tell if they can bring success."
