Jurgen Klopp hits back at fans who goaded Liverpool match-winner with 'Andy Carroll' chant
Jurgen Klopp has bitten back at Nottingham Forest fans who sang ‘you’re just a s*** Andy Carroll’ to Darwin Nunez before his late match-winning goal
Jurgen Klopp has reacted to Nottingham Forest fans for their teasing chant at Darwin Nunez before his late injury-time winning goal.
Liverpool headed to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest on Saturday fresh off three consecutive Premier League wins. The Reds followed those up with a Carabao Cup final victory over Chelsea last Sunday and success in the FA Cup against Southampton.
However, the Merseysiders didn't get things all their own way against Forest and were really made to work by the Tricky Trees. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side pushed Liverpool all the way until the Reds finally scored the goal’s only goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

Nunez headed home from Alexis Mac Allister’s cross in front of the travelling fans – robbing the hosts of a vital point in their battle to survive the drop. After being brought on midway through the second-half, the Uruguayan was subjected to chants of ‘you’re just a s*** Andy Carroll,’ before he popped up at the end of stoppage time to send Liverpool four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Klopp praised his side’s ability to eventually find a winner and warned other fans from teasing Nunez again. He said: “You could see it didn't go easy for us today in any part of the game, we really rushed it here in the wrong moments when we had our finishing situations. In other moments, we should have played more. How we went through that with four wins, I can't believe it to be honest.

“And then the people sang a song and the guy who looks like a former Liverpool player finished the situation off. I wouldn't sing a song like that. I would not try to wind Darwin up, but he scored the goal, an incredible goal set up by Alexis Mac Allister.”
Nunez’s winner was his 10th Premier League goal of the season and his third in his previous three league appearances. The Reds took advantage of City playing in the Manchester Derby on Sunday and Arsenal travelling to Sheffield United on Monday to firmly point the pressure on the shoulders of the chasing pack.
