OSCAR CORTES is already on the road to recovery after being the latest Rangers star struck down with injury this month.

Philippe Clement already has the likes of Abdallah SimaDanilo and Kieran Dowell on the sidelines, while Todd Cantwell has still yet to return following his latest setback last month.

Ryan Jack did return to the manager's squad for their shock 2-1 defeat to Motherwell at Ibrox on Saturday.

But Cortes, who is on loan from Lens, had to watch on from the stands after he suffered a knock against Kilmarnock last Wednesday.

The Colombian was forced off in the second half with a 'serious' muscle injury and Clement feared he could be out for the long-term.

Speaking after the 2-1 win at Rugby Park, the manager revealed: "It's a strange one with the action he did to have an injury like that.

"We need to see what to do operation or not, also in contact with Lens about it."

Cortes has since went under the knife to speed up his recovery and has now posted an update on social media to say everything went to plan.

The surgery was deemed a 'success' and he has vowed to fans that he will be 'back soon'.

Posting a picture on Instagram from the hospital bed, Cortes wrote: "Everything was a success thank God, we'll be back soon."

It's unclear just how long it will take for him to recover and return to the pitch as the extent of his injury is currently unknown.

Clement will be hoping to have the January signing back as soon as possible though, with him lacking cover on the wing following Ross McCausland's latest knock at Ibrox at the weekend.

Cortes joined the Light Blues from Lens in January, with Mohamed Diomande and Fabio Silva both also coming through the door.

The 20-year-old wide-man could move to Glasgow permanently in the summer as Rangers have an option-to-buy included in the deal.

He has made seven appearances for the Light Blues so far, scoring one and assisting two.
