DUJON STERLING stroked in his first goal for Rangers in the Europa League.

And it was a vital one at that.

The right-back utility man has turned into a key figure for Philippe Clement this season with his versatility exploited all over the pitch.

He played on the right wing against Benfica and tucked in Gers' second shortly before half-time after Fabio Silva's low cross.

And performing on the big stage had fans of his old club scratching their heads.

While Gers, Liverpool, Brighton and West Ham were battling it out in the Europa League last 16 - big-spending Chelsea were at home, languishing 11th in the Premier League.

The result even made Blues fans lament their current predicament under Mauricio Pochettino - and their transfer policy.

Sterling could turn out to be Michael Beale's biggest bargain despite barely playing under the ex-boss.

His dramatic turnaround even has questions over the current top team at Stamford Bridge.

And Gers fans are rubbing their hands in glee.

It's easy to forget the 21-year-old was a FREE TRANSFER recruit last summer, as a back-up rival to James Tavernier.

But his dramatic turnaround has seen him compared to his namesake Raheem at Chelsea - and ex-Blues midfielder Billy Gilmour who swapped Ibrox for London in 2017.

Awkward moment Sky Sports interviewer botches Sterling chat after bizarrely offering to get something out of his eye

As Gers took the half-time lead, one Chelsea fan said: "We sold the wrong Sterling to Rangers."

Former Liverpool and Man City winger Raheem has scored eight times in 34 appearances this season as Chelsea continue to underwhelm.

He was booed off by home fans earlier this month and is a rumoured transfer target for Al-Hilal.

Meanwhile Dujon is tearing it up at Rangers in a variety of positions.

The Stamford Bridge supporter's moan on X.com, formerly Twitter, drew boasts from Gers fans over their favourite.

One responded: "We've got the right one. It makes up for the [Billy] Gilmour transfer... maybe blows it out of the water."

Another replied: "Having seen how you guys do business the could be a discussion to be had about buying him back."

A third said: "Every player in our squad has a price, sterling is unsellable! Boy's unreal, Butland gets a injury, I wouldn't be surprised 2 see him in goal.

Another went on: "No bud, you sold us the exactly spot on Sterling. I don’t even think u sold him, didn’t we just sign him?

"Cracking player that can just play anywhere… wouldn’t be surprised if we play him in goals if Butland needs a rest after England duty."

His versatility has been a big plus point and another even remarked: "Thanks, you can keep the change. Dujon does the accounts too, so will get him to send a receipt once he's taken the team cool down and debrief."
