Sevilla are reportedly keeping tabs on Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana, with the 21-year-old currently on loan at Premier League strugglers Burnley.

Sevilla are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana, who is currently on loan at Premier League strugglers Burnley.

The 21-year-old made the switch from Stamford Bridge to Turf Moor in the January transfer window, hoping to boost the Clarets' chances of avoiding an immediate return to the Championship.

Fofana's move to Lancashire was facilitated following a tricky temporary spell at Bundesliga strugglers Union Berlin in the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.

Despite this, the Ivorian managed to feature in the Champions League for the capital club on four occasions, scoring in the 1-1 draw against Serie A champions Napoli on November 8.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla are keeping tabs on the availability of Fofana ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report claims that Quique Sanchez Flores's men were interested in securing the services of the attacker during the January window, however a Premier League rule prevented a move.

English top-flight clubs - including Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea - are limited to how many players they can send out on loan to foreign sides.

Vincent Kompany's side were quick to take advantage of this regulation and beat the likes of Sevilla to Fofana's signature for the remainder of the current term.

It is understood that there is no option-to-buy clause in Burnley's agreement with Chelsea for the 21-year-old, meaning that his future past this term likely lies away from Turf Moor.

With Kompany's troops currently 19th in the Premier League standings and 10 points from safety with 10 games to go, it is not expected that Fofana will stay past the end of the campaign.

Staring down the barrel of another mid-table finish in La Liga, Sevilla are said to have made the acquisition of a new striker a top priority ahead of 2024-25, with talisman Youssef En-Nesyri linked with a move away from Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Fofana is contracted at Chelsea until the summer of 2029 but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by since joining from Norwegian club Molde in December 2022.

Although Burnley have failed to win any matches since the Ivorian joined in January, Fofana has produced in front of goal, netting three times in seven Premier League appearances.

The most recent of those strikes arrived at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as the Clarets halted a four-game losing streak to earn a point off David Moyes's West Ham United in a 2-2 draw.
