Harry Redknapp had heartache written on his face after his horse The Jukebox Man was pipped in a thrilling photo finish at Cheltenham.

The football manager was noticeably crushed after the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle on the final day of the festival on Friday (March 15) where his horse was beaten at the line by winner Stellar Story.

Despite a strong start from Redknapp's horse who built a tremendous lead leading into the final stretch of the race, Stellar Story's spectacular comeback snatched victory at the final second.

Along with a second consecutive victory at Cheltenham for the former Tottenham boss, the first place winnings of £75,965 was missed out on by the 77-year-old who had to make do with £28,620 for coming in second place.

Redknapp's horse came in at 18-1 for the 2.50pm race and was a favourite for many punters to bet on, with over £4,000 matched on him at 1.03pm but it was the 119-1 Stellar Story that stunned the crowd and left the Englishman heartbroken.

Redknapp was spotted on video ready to burst out in cheers but was instead left in stunned silence as he walked away in disappointment. Fans on social media joked about the defeat with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing: "I think Harry Redknapp thought he'd got 3 points in the bag there but got mugged on the line".

Another said: "If Harry Redknapp had Niko Kranjčar on that it wins" while a third had some sympathy for the West Ham legend as they commented: "Wow! You’ve got to feel for @Redknapp there! What a finish to a race".

The football great spoke after his victory to which he said: "To have a winner at Cheltenham... I've watched it all my life, and always dreamed of it. To have a winner - one of the greatest days of my life".
