Jose Enrique believes Liverpool are about to humiliate Manchester United once again

Jose Enrique has made his prediction for Liverpool's FA Cup quarter-final clash at Manchester United

Liverpool vs Manchester United is one of the fiercest rivalries in world football. But, in recent times, it's a rivalry that has become a little one-sided.

Liverpool's remarkable victory in the Carabao Cup final last month was the club's 46th major honour - moving them three clear of United. Seven of those trophies have been won during Jurgen Klopp's highly successful stint at Anfield, which will come to an end at the end of this season.

But before then, there will be two more matches with United. The Reds were held to a 0-0 home draw by Erik ten Hag's team back in December, which at the time, appeared to be a blow to their Premier League title chances. But since then Klopp's charges have gone into overdrive, with the manager admitting yesterday the frustrating stalemate proved to be a turning point.

Little wonder, then, Liverpool will head to Old Trafford for Sunday's massive FA Cup quarter-final clash as firm favourites. But it's not just the Reds' form that makes them that. Of the last 18 meetings between the clubs, Liverpool have lost just three of them. While there have been eight draws during that time, the men from Merseyside still boast the far superior record since Klopp lost his first match as Reds boss against United, 1-0 at Anfield, back in January 2016.

And in recent years the gulf between the clubs has become abundantly clear with Liverpool winning three of their last five games with United 5-0, 4-0 and, most famously last season, 7-0.

The Reds will go into Sunday's contest with their bid for an unprecedented quadruple very much alive. For their opponents, the FA Cup is win or bust, although they still harbour hopes of making the top four in the Premier League.

But for former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique, he can only see one winner. And in fact, he believes another humiliation could be on the cards.

“I don’t fancy Manchester United to get a result on Sunday,” Enrique said on this week’s episode of The Counter Attack from Grosvenor Sport. “Obviously when I was at Liverpool I didn’t get to experience them being this superior to Manchester United - it was more of a 50/50 when I played and sometimes United were the better team. This is still a difficult game for Liverpool, but I really think they are going to win.

“Manchester United are actually playing worse at Old Trafford than when they play away from home - it’s not the same as it used to be when I was playing. I’d love Liverpool to pick up a really big win here – I’m going to go with 5-0 to them.

“They’re scoring so many goals at the moment and their attack is as good as it’s been all season. I’d love a big result like that - firstly for Liverpool but also for Jurgen Klopp."
