Mohamed Diomande has landed an international call-up after his stunning start at Rangers - but NOT for the Ivory Coast.

The midfielder - who joined Philippe Clement's side during the January transfer window - has settled in very quickly to his new surroundings and has slotted in well alongside John Lundstram in the Ibrox engine room. The Light Blues have been short of numbers in that area of the park in recent times with Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin recently returning from injury and Ryan Jack still struggling for fitness.

The 22-year-old has already featured in ten games for Rangers across the Scottish Premiership, Europa League and the Scottish Cup and he could land his first international honours at full level during the break with GHANA. Just last year he appeared for Ivory Coast Under-23s but he has now agreed to a call up to Otto Addo's squad to face Nigeria and Uganda in friendlies. Just last month Diomande turned up to Rangers training in an Ivory Coast shirt as he trolled team-mate Leon Balogun after the Super Eagles lost out in the AFCON Final.

Following his listing in the 26-man squad, a post on the official Ghana National Team Twitter read: "Bolivia based David Akologo, Nordsjaellands Ibrahim Osman, France based Nathaniel Adjei, and Diomande Mohammed of Rangers of Scotland have been named in Ghana’s 26-man squad for this month's international friendly against Nigeria and Uganda. The quartet and Asante Kotoko's Frederick Asare have earned their debut call ups following exceptional performances with their respective clubs. The friendly games scheduled for Marrakech, Morocco marks the beginning of the new era under Otto Addo."
