Liverpool starlet, 18, makes international debut in San Marino vs Saint Kitts and Nevis

A Liverpool youngster has been handed his international debut before making his club bow, having taken part in Wednesday's clash between San Marino and Saint Kitts and Nevis

Liverpool seem to have young talent coming out the wazoo at the moment.

Jurgen Klopp has been handing debuts to kids like they were bags of Skittles this season, though was beaten to the punch by Saint Kitts and Nevis, who selected 18-year-old Kyle Kelly in their clash with San Marino on Wednesday.

Kelly, who has been in Liverpool's academy since 2018, is yet to make his senior bow for the Reds, but has reportedly caught the eye of one or two members of the first team's coaching staff. The forward was born and raised in England but is of Kittitian descent.

Kelly was brought on with nine minutes to play with Saint Kitts and Nevis leading 3-1, which was how the game ended. It was a game slated as one of San Marino’s best opportunities to register their first win in 20 years, with FIFA’s lowest-ranked team considered the bookies' favourite heading into the tie.

San Marino took the lead in the game, with Filippo Berardi converting from the penalty spot mid-way through the first half, but Saint Kitts hit back with two goals before half time, and another four minutes after the restart to flip the game on its head.

Kelly is still eligible to play for England as FIFA allows players to switch allegiances providing they haven't played a competitive match for another nation.

The versatile teenager has been playing both in Liverpool's U18s and U21s squads this season. He has started 13 of his 15 matches with the former, and made his debut for the latter 10 days ago.
