Footage emerges of Tottenham and Denmark’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg pushing over referee

Tottenham fans will know very well that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a no-nonsense type figure.

What you see is what you get from the 28-year-old, who was signed by Jose Mourinho in 2020, but has become a squad player under Ange Postecoglou.

That’s why it was important for him to earn some much-needed minutes for Denmark whilst on international duty.

With Euro 2024 around the corner, and the majority of teams already through, there are many friendly matches taking place.

Tottenham’s defensive brain in the middle started for his country as they recorded a 0-0 draw against Switzerland on Saturday.

But it didn’t come without a quite hilarious moment from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg because he proceeded to push the referee during the game.

The game didn’t have much action, so the Tottenham star decided to liven things up.

With the ball falling loose on the edge of Denmark’s penalty area, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was running towards the ball, to pick it up and carry it away from danger.

But as he ran towards the ball, the on-field referee was blocking his path.

And rather than trying to manoeuvre his way around him, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg opted to just push him to the ground, pick the ball up and drive away up the field.

Rightly so, he didn’t get booked for that moment, but it was quite brilliant and hilarious, at the same time.

Will Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave Tottenham Hotspur?

Come the summer, Hojbjerg will have less than a year left on his contract, and you suspect, it means he will leave.

He isn’t a starter, there are no signs that will change and he is too good to be just sitting on the bench.

In January, sources told HITC Football that Hojbjerg was allowed to leave – and he recently changed agents ahead of the summer transfer window.

You feel something is bubbling with the player, and he will likely head for the exit door.
