'I tapped him' - Sean Dyche reveals more details of Nathan Patterson 'slap' incident at Everton camp

Sean Dyche has shared more detail of an incident that occurred between himself and Nathan Patterson in Portugal

Sean Dyche has played down the significance of an incident that took place between himself and Everton defender Nathan Patterson during the club's training camp in Portugal.

Dyche addressed the media on Thursday afternoon and was asked about the alleged ‘slap’ incident that occurred while Everton were training in Portugal.

“You know, never let the truth get in the way of a good story," he said. "So, there’s nothing in it really, I tapped him on the head like your older brother would and he didn’t get the joke, there's nothing more to it but of course, that wouldn’t have sold.

“So, everyone has to add layers and layers and layers to it but it’s really that simple."

Patterson has been out of favour in recent weeks, with Dyche opting for Ben Godfrey at right-back. Seamus Coleman will also be in contention this weekend having played 180 minutes for the Republic of Ireland over the break.

Everton travel to Bournemouth on Saturday; the Blues are yet to pick up a League win at the Vitality Stadium.

Despite Everton’s poor record, Dyche boasts eight victories over the Cherries in 13 matches he has managed with just three defeats.

Both a draw and a victory would see Everton progress to 15th above Brentford, who host Manchester United in the 8 pm kick-off on Saturday.
