Fabian Schar slammed as West Ham score while he 'rolls around after being tickled'
Newcastle defender Fabian Schar stayed down after being caught by West Ham's Mohammed Kudus, who then gave his side the lead after a quickly taken free-kick
Fabian Schar was slammed by fans for staying down while West Ham took the lead against Newcastle.
The Magpies centre-back had given away a foul on Mohammed Kudus in his own half during stoppage time at the end of the first 45 minutes. He was then caught in the face by Kudus' flailing hand and fell to the ground.
But referee Rob Jones allowed the Hammers to take a quick free-kick, from which Kudus made it 2-1. The hosts felt play should've been halted, as Schar was still lying apparently injured on the ground.

But even their own fans weren't happy with Schar, with many saying he had made the most of minor contact. One Magpies supporter said: "Schar's gone down for about five minutes cause someone tickled his nose, right call from the ref like."
Another responded: "I’d have been absolutely raging if they’d chalked off a toon goal for that like." A third wrote: "Embarrassing that from Schar, big strong centre half rolling around on the ground from a little tap to the nose."
"Schar didn't have a head injury, he got flicked in the face after he fouled Kudus. No reason to delay play for that," claimed a fourth, while a fifth added: "100%. It's not like he doesn't go down every game as well, the ref would have seen it was him and thought f*** that play on."
The incident was one of many in an action-packed game which swung back and forth at St James' Park. At one stage the home side were 3-1 down, thanks to goals from Michail Antonio, Kudus and Jarrod Bowen.
But they turned it around in stunning fashion with Alexander Isak scoring an ice-cool penalty having already converted from the spot at the start of the game, before substitute Harvey Barnes bagged twice, including a sensational long-range strike for the winner.
There was still time left for a red card for Anthony Gordon - who had won their two penalties and got a third assist - who was given his marching orders for kicking the ball away, earning him a second yellow.
