Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has given an update on his recovery from injury.

The 32-year-old has endured an injury-hit campaign, limiting his impact for the Reds. Thiago has made a sole appearance for Liverpool this season, coming on as a late substitute against Arsenal in February after recovering from a hip injury,

However, the Spain international subsequently suffered a muscle issue which has extended his spell on the sidelines. No timeline has been set for the experienced midfielder’s return but Thiago’s management has provided an insight into his rehabilitation process.

Unique Sports Agency took to Instagram to share pictures of their client performing a series of exercises in the gym. The caption read “Our wizard keeps going YNWA” as well as another message of “focus”.

Thiago was pictured using a functional trainer machine, performing exercises with a medicine ball and improving his agility while attached to a harness. The post prompted a positive response from one of his Liverpool teammates as Kostas Tsimikas wrote: “Never give up”, accompanied with a heart emoji.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich midfielder is in the final year of his contract as the summer approaches. However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has previously not given a timeframe for Thiago to get back to full fitness.

"There's no timescale. I don't know, to be honest. It's a couple of things [that] he has to do now from a medical point of view and then I don't know if that will then mean that he can play again [this season],” Klopp said.

“That's not a short-term thing, that's why I'm not really in the subject. It's not that he might be in training in two weeks or stuff like this, so that's why I'm not 100 per cent in it. I cannot say more about it, to be honest."
