GORDON STRACHAN has named eight Rangers and Celtic players who could cut it in the Premier League.

But only ONE of them would be good enough for a top six side.

A number of Gers and Hoops stars have been linked with moves to the top flight in England over the years.

Indeed, some have already played at that level before coming to Ibrox or Celtic Park.

As it stands, former Scotland boss Strachan reckons four players from both Rangers and Celtic could get a game for a Premier League team.

They are Jack Butland, James Tavernier, John Lundstram and Abdallah Sima from the blue half of Glasgow and Callum McGregor, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Matt O'Riley and Reo Hatate from the green side of the city.

But the one who stands a chance at moving onto bigger and better things?

In Strachan's eyes that would be Hoops ace O'Riley.

He told BoyleSports: "Matt O’Riley is good enough for a top-six Premier League side.

"If we're talking about just a Premier League side, I would say John Lundstram can play, Tavernier can play, Sima can play, and Jack Butland. For Celtic, Hatate, McGregor, Riley and Carter-Vickers.

"If you say to me who could play in the top six? I would say O'Riley. I think he could."

Fulham youth product O'Riley, who joined Celts from MK Dons in 2022, has been linked with a move down south on several occasions since he established himself as a key player in Glasgow.

Crystal Palace were one of the teams in England who have been most keen on the 22-year-old Denmark international.

The classy midfielder was also the subject of transfer interest from Atletico Madrid during the January window but nothing came of it as the Parkhead club rebuffed all advances.

O'Riley has scored 13 goals across all competitions for the Hoops this season and is a front runner for many of the end-of-season awards.

He's also laid on 16 assists for his team mates and his price tag is believed to be in the region of £25m.
