ALFREDO Morelos could have his contract ‘terminated’ according to a report
The Colombian striker is the Brazilian club’s highest-paid player even after accepting a pay cut to around half his original £40,000 a week salary after they were relegated to Serie B for the first time ever last year.
And the shock report came in Brazilian outlet Globo, who claim that the former Rangers star is ‘practically a card out of the deck’ at the club.
They say that the Colombian has lost his spot in the team and should no longer be used by manager Fabio Carille.
They say the club’s board are seeking an interested club to unload the striker after spell in the Paulista championship in which he played 11 matches, scored two goals and provided one assist.
In particular, they say he has found difficulty “achieving his best physical shape”.

And it’s claimed that he could be deemed surplus to requirement with Santos set to move for veteran former Brazil frontman Alexandro Pato.
When you throw in relegation, and a subsequent renegotation of his contract, the move to Santos hasn’t worked out the way Morelos has planned.
He was lost spotted being linked a shock move to Japanese side Kashima Antlers.
Rports in Brazil suggested Morelos was also offered to Russian club Krasnodar, but they rejected the proposal.

Santos president Marcelo Teixeira recently complained about the initial contract Morelos was given by the previous regime at the club.
He said: “We could not terminate Alfredo Morelos‘ contract because it would have cost far too much money, therefore we renegotiated a new one.
“He is an athlete who earned and still earns very high amounts. He was initially given a very exaggerated contract.”
