Niko Kovac has dismissed speculation linking him with the manager's job at Liverpool.

The Reds face an uncertain future as they prepare for the post-Jurgen Klopp era on Merseyside. Klopp announced back in January that he would be stepping down from his role as manager at the end of the season.

Ever since there has been speculation around who could be Klopp's successor in the Anfield dugout beyond this season. Xabi Alonso, Ruben Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi and Julian Nagelsmann have all been linked with the future vacancy across the last three months.

Recent days have seen reports claiming that former Bayern Munich boss Kovac could be the next manager of Liverpool. A report in the Daily Mail has claimed that Kovac's representatives have discussed the possibility of a move to a Premier League club in the summer, with Liverpool a potential destination.

Kovac has now responded to the speculation linking him with the job at Anfield while appearing on 'Sport and Talk in Hangar 7' for ServusTV. The former Wolfsburg manager has dismissed the reports suggesting that he could be the next Liverpool boss.

“There’s always a lot written about it, but there’s nothing to it," said Kovac, via Sportkrone.

Kovac has been out of work since leaving Wolfsburg earlier this season. He has also taken charge of Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco earlier in his career, and is currently waiting for his return to management.

Alonso was listed as the early favourite to be the next Liverpool manager earlier this year but has since confirmed he will be staying at Bayer Leverkusen beyond this summer. Now it seems that reports are linking Amorim as the favourite for the summer vacancy, having impressed in his four years in charge at Sporting Lisbon.
