England’s all-time record goalscorer left Tottenham Hotspur for a shot at a first piece of major silverware at German giants Bayern Munich last summer. And in doing so, has had to do most English people’s most dreaded thing – learn a new language.

Ahead of Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal on Wednesday, the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer took time to film a new advert for Bayern’s partners Audi, dropping in a touch of his new tongue for good measure.

Kane was filmed in the driving seat of the Audi Q6 e-tron, where he follows a sign reading ‘umleitung,’ meaning detour in German. A confused Muller sitting in the front passenger seat asks his strike partner: “Harry, where are we going?” To which Kane replies: “Umleitung,” causing Tel in the back seat to become concerned and ask Muller if Kane is serious.

“Harry, you know 'Umleitung' isn't a place right?'” Muller questions, to which Kane replies: “Thomas, I know. I'm just getting to know my new home.”

As the advert seems to have ended, there’s another scene back in the car where Muller jokes: “Next destination Einbahnstrasse?” - meaning one-way street in German. Seeing Kane attempt to repeat the word to the native speaker, causing all three players to try and hold back their laughter in the light-hearted conclusion.

Fans on social media lapped up the advert starring Kane, as one comment dubbed his appearance: “Oscar worthy,” while a second quipped: “Kane is brilliant... even as an actor!”

Driving the Q6 e-tron wouldn’t have felt too alien to Kane, with the Daily Mail claiming Kane picked himself out a £58,000 black Q8 e-tron upon signing for Bayern. Players at the club are required to drive their company cars to training, matches and events as per the club’s policy.

Opting for a different driving experience to Kane, Muller, Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich were among 12 Bayern players to select the Audi RS e-tron GT – which costs a minimum of £120,000.
