Rangers trio can't handle title pressure AGAIN as former Ibrox striker pinpoints Celtic capitulation factor

Rory Loy claims that three of Rangers' main men have shown they can't handle the pressure of a genuine title race.

Philippe Clement's side saw their Premiership title hopes further damaged as a goalless draw with Dundee compounded the weekend defeat to Ross County in Dingwall. The Light Blues now trail rivals Celtic by three points having finally played the same number of games. An inferior goal difference means Gers MUST win at Parkhead in the final Old Firm clash of the season on May 11 and hope someone else does them a favour by holding the Hoops.

And former Rangers striker Loy reckons the Ibrox club's big name trio have been found wanting when the pressure is on. He namechecked captain James Tavernier, fellow defender Connor Goldson and midfielder John Lundstram as three leaders who have wilted rather than step up when it comes to the crunch. And not for the first time either, as Loy pointed to Celtic's 10-In-A-Row collapse as a major factor when Gers DID manage to get the title over the line three years ago.

“I don’t think that they have dealt well with the pressure," he told BBC Scotland. I think some of their stalwarts, Tavernier, Goldson, Lundstram, they’ve been in this position before and anytime that bit of pressure is applied they don’t seem to react well to it.

"They can’t seem to handle it all that well. They did one season of course, when Celtic capitulated and were not anywhere close to them. But when it comes to this time of the season, where it’s just after the winter break or closer to the end of the season, they don’t seem to be able to handle it very well.”
