John Lundstram 'set' for Rangers exit as Premiership bound side line up move after salary ‘demands’ ends Turkish interest

Lundstram had been heavily linked with Trabzonspor but reports in Turkey claim salary demands mean that move has stalled.

Ipswich Town are 'set' to sign John Lundstram this summer, according to reports in Turkey,

The Rangers midfielder is out of contract in the summer and while talks with the Ibrox club have been ongoing over a new contract, no agreement has been reached and as things stand, the Scouser will leave on a free at the end of the season. He had been heavily linked with a move to Trabzonspor, but the Turkish club have reportedly stalled on their offer, with reports there suggesting that Lundstram was seeking a salary of €2million to play in the Super Lig next term.

Now Gunebakis claim that the Tractor Boys are leading the race to land Lundstram and are set to get their man. The Portman Road outfit are locked in a battle for the Championship title with Leicester City and Leeds. Led by former Manchester united coach Kieran McKenna, Town are currently top of the table, although just two points separate the top two and the Foxes have a game in hand on both of their title rivals.

McKenna is seeking top flight experience should they get automatic promotion over the line. And Lundstram offers that after two years in the English premier League with Sheffield United. He starred as Chris Wilder kept the Blades up in their maiden season, but couldn't help them avoid the drop the following year.

He then joined Rangers in the wake of a first Premiership title triumph in a decade under Steven Gerrard. Lundstram was big part of the squad that reached the Europa League final that year under Gio van Bronckhorst, scoring the decisive goal in the semi-final victory over RB Leipzig.
