PHILIPPE CLEMENT admits he faces a fight to keep John Lundstram at Rangers.

And he insists he won’t allow another top star to run down his Ibrox deal.

Boss Clement wants the out-of-contract midfielder, 30, to stay at Gers beyond the summer.

But he thinks Lundstram will have other offers and is stunned the contract situation has rumbled on so long.

Clement said: “There have been offers from the club, but there is no agreement yet.

“I expect he has other offers, yes. I hope he stays. I know he loves to be here.

“It depends on what you can offer and what other clubs can offer.

“That is why I don’t like that important players are at the end of contracts. It’s not a good thing for a club.

“It is something that will never happen again in the period that I’m here, for sure.”

Lundstram is one of eight high-profile stars whose deals are up.

Reports in Turkiye claim Trabzonspor are keen on both Lundstram and teammate Borna Barisic.

On-loan Abdallah Sima, Fabio Silva and Oscar Cortes could all return to their parent clubs, while there is uncertainty surrounding Barisic, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack and back-up goalie Jon McLaughlin.

Clement has pretty much decided on who will stay and go — but insists they could still change his mind.

He added: “Can these last six games affect somebody’s future? Yes.

“Maybe somebody we could not count on enough last season plays the next six games and is the best guy on the pitch.

“It is silly not to give a contract. Everything is still possible. It is in their hands.”

One duo he isn't counting on leaving though is Connor Goldson and captain James Tavernier.

Rumours this week linked the experienced pair to a reunion with ex-boss Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia.

But Clement said: "Yes, I expect them to be here next season, that is my expectation.

"My players come to speak with me if they have doubts or if they want to go or if they are out of contract. We have that relationship.
