Nick Montgomery insists Hibs should have hit St Johnstone for SEVEN as Hibees wreak revenge

The Easter Road side had to settle for three through Emiliano Marcondes, Paul Hanlon and Dylan Vente.

Nick Montgomery reckons Hibs should’ve fired at least seven past St Johnstone as they gained revenge for a result that ruined their top-six bid.

Dimitar Mitov was inspired at Easter Road earlier in the month as Saints won 2-1. And the Bulgarian keeper continued his stunning form to stop rampant Hibees running riot at McDiarmid. Subs Paul Hanlon and Dylan Vente added to a superb Emiliano Marcondes free-kick on six minutes but it could’ve been a greater margin of victory.

Benji Kimpioka’s late response for Craig Levein's men didn’t take the shine off a fine attacking display from the Hibees. Boss Montgomery said: “The performance was good and the result what we deserved. That’s not always been the case this season. We’ve dominated so many times on stats and possession but they don’t win you games. Putting the ball in the back of the net and being clinical does. If we’re honest, we weren’t as clinical as we should’ve been because we could’ve scored another four goals – minimum.

“Their keeper pulled off some great saves. A couple of weeks ago at Easter Road it was a really deflating, disappointing result. We totally dominated but their keeper pulled off four or five great saves.

“What might’ve been, and could’ve been, doesn’t matter now. What does matter is that we came here, put in a good performance and came away with three points.”
