Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin has stated Sam McClelland will get a Championship winners medal.

The on-loan St Johnstone defender hasn’t played enough games to automatically qualify for one with five league appearances to his name heading into this Friday's final game against Partick Thistle - after which the Tangerines will lift the trophy. McClelland has come into the United squad in recent weeks and has built up a strong central defensive relationship with Ross Graham. Goodwin, however, has insisted that he will get a medal for the part he has played in getting United over the line.

Goodwin said: “Yes, Sam will get a medal. He has played his part in getting the team to the title.” Midfielder David Wotherspoon also falls into that category. He arrived in January but injury has curtailed his appearances. United will be presented with the Championship trophy at home to Partick Thistle on Friday night.
