Jim Goodwin on Dundee Utd transfer strategy as he hunts next Bojan Miovski for Premiership return

Goodwin landed gems such as Miovski and Ylber Ramadani shopping abroad whilst in charge of Aberdeen./

Jim Goodwin is looking to unearth another Bojan Miovski or Ylber Ramadani for Dundee United.

The experienced boss has led the Tannadice club back to the Premiership and knows their return to the top flight will open the door to many more overseas options. United have already brought in Michael Cairney as head of recruitment and Goodwin is looking to have similar success as he did at Dons, signing Ramadani – now of Serie A side Lecce – Miovski and Duk.

Goodwin said: “I feel I have had considerable success in the past at previous clubs looking at the foreign markets. At St Mirren, the likes of Ilkay Durmus came in and did well. While at Aberdeen, Bojan Miovski, Duk and Ylber Ramadani are the three who immediately spring to mind. The foreign markets can also be financially beneficial because, especially in eastern Europe, they are not always on huge money.”

But Goodwin has made it clear he wants a core of experienced British players. He added: “I like to sign players who have knowledge of the Scottish game and you don’t want to be bringing in too many foreign players because it takes time to settle in.

“It’s a different culture, a new environment and a different style of play. You have to consider all of those things.”
