Alan Brazil nabs stinging Rangers criticism from Ally McCoist as Celtic diehard reaches 'best player' nirvana

The Glasgow giants will face off at Celtic Park on Saturday in a battle at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Brutally honest Alan Brazil reckons no Celtic star can lay claim to the Player of the Year gong as he echoed Ally McCoist to brand the side "average".

Rangers travel to Celtic Park on Saturday in a crucial Old Firm derby that could decide the fate of the Scottish Premiership title. A win for Brendan Rodgers' side would put the Hoops' six-points clear of their rivals at the summit and within touching distance of defending the trophy - but victory for the Light Blues would move them level on points at the top and see the race go to the wire.

But Celtic diehard Brazil hasn't been impressed by the performances of the side this term and admitted he agreed with Rangers' hero McCoist that neither side have caught the eye this term. He was put on the spot about Celtic's form on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show as fellow host Shebahn Aherne discussed hosting the Hoops' Player of the Year awards on Saturday night - following the blockbuster showdown.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour chimed in: "Who has been the best player for Celtic in your eyes?" Brazil responded: "I don't know. Celtic haven't been brilliant this season. They have been good enough to win the league, but as Ally (McCoist) keeps saying it has been two average sides. We'll see."

Parlour joked: "Will we have a rollover then (for the Player of the Year)? We can come back next season?"
