Chris Sutton poked fun at Kenny Miller during a speech at Celtic's end-of-season awards (Image: X)
Chris Sutton took aim at Kenny Miller during a speech at Celtic's end-of-season award ceremony following their row after the Old Firm derby on Saturday. Sutton and Miller clashed on Sky Sports while discussing the tackle that saw Rangers midfielder John Lundstram sent off just before half-time.
Lundstram was initially shown a yellow card after clattering into Celtic defender Alistair Johnston, but his punishment was quickly upgraded to a red following a VAR review. Replays showed that Lundstram dived in with his studs showing, which amounted to reckless conduct and saw Rangers reduced to 10 men.
Miller grew increasingly animated as he tried to argue that the VAR intervention was unnecessary and the initial yellow card shown to Lundstram would have sufficed. He was later ridiculed on social media, with Sutton firing another dig at him while speaking at Celtic's end-of-season awards ceremony.

He said: "I'd like to congratulate Brendan and the team on their performance yesterday. And can I also congratulate Kenny Miller on his unique piece of punditry that nobody else in the universe agreed with. Well done Kenny."
Sutton's comments drew fits of laughter from the 11,000 people in the audience, with host Shebahn Aherne adding: "Still crying somewhere, probably."

Miller was clearly unwilling to back down and refused to change his stance the day after the match, writing in his Daily Record column: "I know lots of people disagree with me, and there were no shortage of them among my fellow pundits on Sky Sports when I made it clear I didn’t think John Lundstram should have been sent off for his challenge on Alistair Johnston.
"I’m not going to change my mind or back down. When you slow it down, see the point of contact and throw crazy words like ‘endangering an opponent’ or ‘speed’, it really grates on me. Players have to run fast. The still pictures are the thing that really infuriates me with VAR. They can make any incident look worse.
"Football is still a contact sport and sometimes there are going to be mistimed tackles. Unfortunately we are now dealing with people in charge of VAR who don’t appreciate or understand that. Had there been no VAR, Lundstram would have received the yellow card and no-one would have thought much more about it."
