Ben Foster names ‘physical’ 19-goal Premier League ace who could be ‘great fit’ for Arsenal

Former Manchester United, West Bromwich Albion and Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has named one striker who could be a ‘great fit’ for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal have once again fallen short in the Premier League title race with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City winning their fourth league title in a row with the Citizens’ 3-1 win over West Ham sealing the title at the Etihad Stadium.

This is the second season in a row that the Gunners have fallen short at the final hurdle with City toppling the North London side last campaign, too.

Part of the problem for Arsenal this season has been the lack of a reliable striker leading the line. £65 million German forward Kai Havertz scored 13 Premier League goals, whilst Gabriel Jesus netted just four times in the league. A prolific forward leading the line for the Gunners could be the difference next season.

Foster names striker who could be ‘good fit’ for Arsenal

Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast on his YouTube channel, Foster suggested a name for Arsenal who could be a good fit and at a reasonable price if the Gunners are in the market for a centre-forward this summer.

“Do you know what? Watto (Dave Watson) came up with a belter earlier,” Foster said. “He said they (Arsenal) just need somebody, they need that guy who is that little fox in the box, the sniffer, the poacher, somebody who is going to put the ball in the back of the net.

“Dominic Solanke, he said. I think that would be a great fit for Arsenal. I really do. A Dominic Solanke, good in the air, physical, works his socks off, puts the ball in the back of the net.”

it has been another impressive season for the English centre-forward and the former Liverpool striker is surely set to be of interest to a host of Premier League clubs this summer.

Solanke could be the perfect fit for Arsenal

Arsenal were previously linked with a move for Brentford forward Ivan Toney before his ban for eight months due to multiple alleged betting breaches turned the Gunners off the idea of signing the Englishman. If they are keen on recruiting from the Premier League, Solanke should be considered.

This season under Andoni Iraola, the Bournemouth forward has netted an impressive 19-goals for the Cherries and came joint fourth on the list of top goal scorers in the league campaign, whilst Arsenal did not have a name in the top ten list.

Back in January, HITC reported that Tottenham Hotspur were unlikely to spend £60 million on the forward and it seems without Champions League football, the Lilywhites may struggle to attract Solanke. This could leave the door open for Arsenal and this would certainly be an interesting signing to help cut the gap to City next season.
