Five of the last six fixtures between the two sides, including last season's FA Cup final and their most recent meeting, have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Manchester City head into Saturday's Wembley final as the strong favourites looking for the league and cup double, while Manchester United have extra incentive on the match as winning the trophy would also secure European qualification for them next season.

The reigning English champions were the top scorers in the Premier League this season, finishing just four goals shy of a century, scoring 33 goals in their last nine league outings at an average of 3.7 per game.

Phil Foden's brace on the weekend propelled City to an unprecedented fourth Premier League title in a row, and took him to 27 goals for the campaign.

The England midfielder has also scored six goals in his last four games against Manchester United.

Manchester City have the chance to become the first team to ever win the Premier League and FA Cup in back to back seasons on Saturday afternoon as they take on local rivals Manchester United at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola's side are also fresh off the back of becoming the first team in English footballing history to win four successive league titles, winning their last nine league matches of the season to secure the trophy on the final day of the season last Sunday afternoon.

Excluding their penalty shoot-out defeat to Real Madrid, the defending FA Cup champions have gone the entirety of 2024 without losing, going 35 games unbeaten since they lost to Aston Villa at the start of December.

Manchester City are looking to climb to joint-third on the all-time list of FA Cup wins, having won seven so far, and looking to win their third in the last five years.

Four of Guardiola's side's five FA Cup matches this season have come against Premier League opposition, defeating Huddersfield, Tottenham, Luton, Newcastle and Chelsea to reach Sunday's final.

The Spaniard is also looking to become only the eighth manager to have won the FA Cup on three different occasions, which would take him up to joint-third in the all-time list.

Manchester United make the trip to Wembley as underdogs despite having finished the league season with back-to-back wins, succumbing to an eighth place finish, their lowest ever in the Premier League era.

Erik ten Hag's side's finishing out of the European places adds extra meaning to Saturday's FA Cup final for United, which will see them qualify for the Europa League should they lift the trophy, dropping Chelsea into the Europa Conference League as a result.

However, should the Red Devils be defeated by City in back-to-back FA Cup finals, Chelsea would keep their place in the Europa League next season, which would see Newcastle join the Europa Conference League, and Manchester United would miss out on Europe altogether.

United had won just one of their last eight Premier League games prior to the final week of what has been a very disappointing season, but could end on a high with what would take them just one shy of Arsenal's record tally of 14 FA Cup victories.

The Red Devils started their FA Cup run with routine victories over Wigan and Newport before a slender victory over Nottingham Forest resulted in an breath taking 4-3 extra time victory over Liverpool in the quarter finals, and a dramatic penalty shoot out win in the semi final against Coventry.

Manchester City have won each of their last three, and six of their last seven matches against Manchester United, including last season's FA Cup final which ended in a 2-1 victory.
