Oscar Cortes says he’s waiting for news on his Rangers future.

The Colombian kid joined Gers on an initial six-month loan deal from Lens back in January. But his season was brought to an end just seven games after making his Ibrox move having suffered a devastating knee injury. Light Blues bosses have an option to buy the 20-year-old and gaffer Philippe Clement is still keen to do a deal.

But the big Belgian has made clear that Gers will only proceed if they can come to an agreement on the 'right price' with the South American’s French owners. That’s left Cortes - who has now returned to light training - sitting by the phone waiting for news. He said “I’m doing well now, after everything that has happened. There were obviously difficult times but I think that with the help of all the people I have around me they helped me a lot, and they have helped me to be calm in my head as well.

“I arrived and started to do things very well and well unfortunately the injury came and I had to stop for three months but I thank God I am already in the recovery process. Me and my agents are keeping tabs on the negotiations that are taking place. We will see what happens. I'm talking to my agents and also to Lens and Rangers. Let's see what happens. I am waiting.”

Cortes may very well be back at Ibrox next season. But he hopes it will only be a stepping stone to his dream destination … at the Bernabeu. He said: “Since I started playing soccer, my dream has been to play for Real Madrid, it has always been my dream. My dream is to get to Real Madrid. With work and sacrifice I believe that it can be achieved at some point. They are my team.”
