Ryan Kent faces Rangers exit deja vu as Fenerbahce boss meltdown clears path to FINALLY end nightmare

The winger has failed to make his mark during an ill-fated season with the Turkish giants.

Fenerbahce flop Ryan Kent looks set to repeat his Rangers exit and become a free agent just 12 months after bringing the curtain down on his Ibrox career.


The former Light Blues' wide man has endured a turbulent in Istanbul after leaving Rangers behind as a free agent last summer. He has been used sparingly by boss Ismail Kartal and has made just one five-minute cameo in the league in 2024 with his other two appearances coming in the Europa Conference League following the collapse of of a shock move to Lazio in the January window.


And time now looks to be up for the 27-year-old with Aspor stating that Kent will be seeking a new club in the summer - with the club willing to allow the winger to leave the club for nothing having bumped him from their list of foreign players in their league squad. Kartal was in bullish form as he looked to lead Fenerbahce to the Turkish title.

They need to win by two goals or more against Istanbulspor by two goals and hope Galatasaray lose to Konyaspor. But speaking to beIN Sports, he said: "I always said 'trust this team, these players'. I think we have not embarrassed our fans and our community so far. We are behind because of external factors. I live with the hope of winning the championship.

"We have been together for a year. I am an objective person. They tried to discredit me, my team and my players. Without learning the truth, some people told lies on their behalf in order to get different jobs in different places for their careers.

“They slandered and disrespected our work. There was a constant attack on social and visual media. There is, I don't accept it. There will be criticism, but if there is constructive criticism, football will improve. This is not criticism, there is backlash. I have shattered all the statistics with the football I played every time I came to this club."

Amid the heated press conference, he was put on the spot about his decision to leave Kent out of the Super Lig squad. He went on to let the fans into the Engishman's decision to snub the Serie A giants: "We had 15 people and 1 person was going to leave the squad. Kent received serious offers from Europe, including Lazio.

“We wanted to keep (Joshua) King in the squad. Kent, He said, ‘I don't want to go.’ That's how we made our choice. I always prefer a solid King. If King is healthy, he will get you a game on his own. It was unfortunate that he got injured 4 days after announcing the list."
