Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho has landed in Brazil as he looks to seal a move to Vasco de Gama.

The former Liverpool star is set to ramp up talks over a move back to his homeland with his exit from the Premier League looking increasingly likely.

Reports in Brazil claim all parties are working with him to sever ties with Villa who could leave the club in the first half of June. Arranging the terms of his exit from Villa is said to be the obstacle that is preventing a swift move to Vasco.

Coutinho landed in Brazil on Friday when he spoke to waiting local media and said 'everyone already knows' what awaits him this summer as he seemed to confim his exit.

Coutinho joined Villa in 2022 from Barcelona, but his move has not worked out as planned when it was deemed a quality signing under former manager Steven Gerrard.

He has scored six goals and registered just three assists at Villa which came after his career at Barcelona failed to take off after a £142m from Liverpool. Last season he was on loan at Al-Duhail in Qatar who are not interested in signing him permanently.

There have been suggestions that Coutinho's former club Vasco are a target for NSWE who are said to be considering entering into a partnership with as they seek to build up their V Sports portfolio.

Their season has already kicked off, but they like the idea of adding Coutinho - although it would involve the player taking a substantial cut in his wages.
