Wolverhampton Wanderers allegedly hold an interest in adding a second Paraguayan winger to their squad in the summer transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly contemplating whether to target another Paraguayan winger as they bid to strengthen their squad.

The West Midlands outfit have just comfortably avoided relegation from the Premier League, sitting in mid-table throughout after a strong opening three quarters of the campaign.

However, with Gary O'Neil's side having dropped down to 14th position during the run-in, much momentum has been lost ahead of 2024-25.

With Wolves known to be not in an ideal position with regards to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules, some focus will be placed on trying to acquire talent for a lower fee.

If reports are to be believed, it appears that Wolves' recruitment team are again taking a look at the South American market in search of new players.

Sosa attracting interest from Wolves

According to reporter Christian Martin, Wolves hold an interest in bring Ramon Sosa to the club over the coming months.

The 24-year-old currently plies his trade for Talleres in Argentina, making a notable impact since arriving at the club in January 2023.

Sosa has delivered an impressive 17 goals and 13 assists from just 53 appearances during his time at Talleres, most recently impressing in the Copa Libertadores.

Talleres have recorded four wins and one draw in a group that features Sao Paulo, Cobresal and Barcelona SC, with the Paraguay international contributing one goal and one assist from his four outings.

His stock has also been enhanced since making the breakthrough with Paraguay, featuring in all six of their most recent World Cup qualifiers.

Potential help for Gonzalez?

Wolves and O'Neil must now decide whether to move for a player who has a contract at Talleres until December 2026 and will likely cost in excess of £5m.

That figure is used as a measuring stick courtesy of Wolves having paid €6m (£5.1m) for another Paraguayan winger in Enso Gonzalez last summer.

Since then, the 19-year-old has been limited to eight appearances for Wolves Under-23s and a brief Premier League debut against Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Decisions must now be made over how to progress the youngster's development given the size of Wolves' investment, and it is plausible Sosa may be targeted partly to aid each other's time in Wolverhampton.
