Ethan Ampadu has already told Leeds United they must keep Joe Rodon at the club now that his loan spell with the Whites is over.

The Elland Road club suffered Championship play-off final heartache at the weekend, losing 1-0 to Southampton at Wembley.

Daniel Farke's men now face another term in the second tier, and Ampadu has already told his international team-mate he should stay in Yorkshire, despite them not returning to the top flight.

He has one year left to run on his Tottenham contract.

Ampadu said earlier this year: "I'll be pressuring him. He knows that.

"A lot of Leeds fans enjoyed it when I commented on one of his Instagram photos one time.

"I haven't done it in a while. But we are all telling him to stay. Everyone knows how much we appreciate him and what he has done this year."

Leeds' hopes of bringing him back to Yorkshire appear slim but Rodon's sentiments before the final suggest the Whites do have a look-in. In an interview with the Mail, the Swansea product said: “It would be nice to have stability and know where I am next season. I’ve always strived to get to the elite level and hopefully I can get back there with Leeds, but you never know.

“I don’t want to look too far into the future, although I do love it here and Leeds feels like a second home to me now. I’m just concentrating on giving my best and getting this club back to where it belongs.”
