LIAM HENDERSON. Aaron Hickey. Josh Doig. Lewis Ferguson. Be ready to add Stuart Armstrong to that list, according to a report.

The former Celtic midfielder is in line to become the next Scottish star heading to Serie A in Italy with interest in his signature mounting this summer.

Armstrong, who came through the ranks at Dundee United before moving to Celtic and then a big money move down south, is out of contract this year at Southampton.

He's free to discuss his next moves but is currently on international duty with Scotland.

He was one of several stars reporting for Euro 2024 training on the back of an injury - and may have played his last game for the Saints when he was stretchered off at Cardiff.

His team-mates secured promotion back to the Premier League through the play-offs without him.

And now he could leave permanently with Fulham interested in the 32-year-old.

But Europa Conference League finalists Fiorentina are also keen.

They could bid to take him to Florence and build on the back of similar Scottish success stories that have seen Josh Doig's stock rise and Lewis Ferguson revered as Bologna captain.

According to the Sunday Mail Armstrong has 'several options' and is making up his mind.

But they also claim the St Mary's side - led by ex-Rangers defender Russell Martin - believe they can keep him at the club.

They've also been linked with Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley but could be put off by Celtic's huge price-tag.

Boss Martin worked with the Danish international at MK Dons before he moved north and would love a reunion.

But West Ham, Brighton and Everton are also in the running for the player who was subject of a huge bid from Atletico Madrid in January.

Meanwhile Armstrong's international team-mate Lyndon Dykes has been ruled OUT of Euro 2024 after being spotted on a stretcher at the national team's training ground in Glasgow.

The QPR striker was carried out of training on Friday afternoon and subsequent scans have confirmed an injury and his international hopes over just two weeks from the big kick-off in Germany.

Southampton striker Che Adams and Scotland's player of the Year Lawrence Shankland are now Steve Clarke's only recognised strikers in the current 27-man squad.
