Jose Cordoba transfer mystery to be solved amid Rangers saga as Levski Sofia tease big reveal

The 22-year-old defender was at Ibrox last month before the club reportedly pulled out of a move.

Rangers target Jose Cordoba’s next destination is set to be revealed with Levski Sofia “negotiating with foreign clubs" and the player admitting he has chosen his "next project".

The Light Blues reportedly pulled out of a move for the Panama international central defender after he had even made the trip to Ibrox to take in the Scottish Premiership win over Kilmarnock during the post split. Cordoba appeared to be on his way to Norwich City with reports in Bulgaria saying the 22-year-old’s club favoured a switch to the English Championship outfit due to the way the £3.1 million transfer fee payments would be structured.

It was claimed Rangers wanted to pay £2m rising to the total fee while Levski wanted the fee up front. Now Levski Sofia executive director Daniel Borimirov - a former player for the club and Bulgarian international - has revealed the latest to the Bulgarian media. He said: “We are negotiating with foreign clubs for Jose Cordoba. When the time comes, the blue community and you will find out what will happen with Jose Cordoba.”

And the player said: "I think that soon they will have news. It is a very good future for me. I think that i would have good project so that we can continue growing as players and I am very happy about it and the things are going to go well."

Record Sport revealed earlier how Rangers are interested in former Arsenal star Reuell Walters. The 19-year-old defender on Monday left the Gunners on freedom of contract. Walters would be available cross-border for around £350,000 in compensation. He has admirers on the Ibrox coaching staff but they are looking to prioritise funds for other positions in Philippe Clement’s squad.

Rangers will keep a watching brief on Walters but are unlikely to move unless they move on a right-back. Walters has a string of interest in both the English Premier League, Championship and in Europe.
