The ongoing power struggle within Cameroonian football continued at the weekend after boss Marc Brys again clashed with Samuel Eto'o.

The pair have endured a tricky relationship ever since Belgian coach Brys was appointed as manager in April.

The decision to bring Brys in was made by the country's Sports Ministry, rather than the Cameroonian football federation (Fecafoot), which is led by Eto'o, something that infuriated the former Chelsea, Inter Milan and Barcelona striker.

Eto'o then had an explosive confrontation with Brys ahead of this month's World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde and Angola and decided to sack Brys last Thursday, before he reinstated him later that day and apologised.

However, the latest episode of their rivalry took a new twist on Sunday as the pair were involved in another disagreement.

According to Belgian outlet HLN, as the Cameroonian staff and players gathered in the Hilton hotel in the capital city Yaounde, Fecafoot had sent their own technical staff to join the national team.

They even sat down opposite Brys and his staff, creating a tense atmosphere in what was another attempt by Eto'o to impose his authority.

However, Brys refused to work with the team sent by Fecafoot and after a standoff, the hotel staff intervened and showed them out of the door because they did not have an official reservation at the hotel.

This infuriated Eto'o, who hit back by taking away all of the equipment from Brys' team, which meant they were left with no balls to train with.

Eto'o even reportedly cancelled the team bus that was set to take the squad to training on Monday.

A video on social media subsequently showed Brys trying to keep the calm in the hotel lobby, where he was joined by several of his players.

The report goes onto explain how Brys then led his team on a walk around Yaounde, while some of his staff went to local shops to buy footballs and other important pieces of equipment ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier with Cape Verde.

Speaking to local media, Brys told RIS Radio: 'We have no balls, no material, no equipment. Nothing at all.

'Whether our internship is going well? No, not at all. Isn't this unheard of? I have been in the coaching profession for 26 years. But I've never seen anything like it.'

However, despite the significant handicaps he faced, Brys - who is still to manage a game for Cameroon - remained optimistic.

'We must show the 30 million Cameroonians that even if there are people who want to oppose us, we want to fight for the country,' he added.

Several current and players also took to social media to express their frustration with the situation as they called on Brys and Eto'o to sort out their difference.

Oyongo Bitolo, who won 50 caps for Cameroon between 2013 and 2022 said on Instagram: 'Is this war really necessary? Don't you realise how serious this situation is?

'If we achieve bad results later, it will be the players' fault. Now just make sure that we can perform well against Cape Verde and Angola. Everyone has to put their ego aside.'

Meanwhile, Dinamo Moscow winger Moumi Ngamaleu, who has 49 caps for his country, added: 'Keep politics far away from us. You have to create a favorable environment around the national team, so that we can play football without any worries.

'We implore you: put aside those differences. Put your ego aside. And together let's put Cameroon on the world map. The Cameroonian people should be proud to be part of this country.'
