Usain Bolt makes bizarre Manchester United claim and backs Man City in Premier League battle
Latest Manchester United news and gossip as Usain Bolt makes a claim about Manchester City's Premier League title triumph over Arsenal and the Red Devils' eighth-placed finish
Manchester United fan and Olympic icon Usain Bolt has explained why he'd rather Man City win the title ahead of Arsenal - and boldly suggested the Red Devils had a better season than the Gunners.
City won a record fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, which was also the sixth in the Pep Guardiola era at the Etihad Stadium. City finished five points ahead of runners-up Arsenal, while United were in eighth place but still managed to qualify for the Europa League thanks to the victory in the FA Cup final.
Bolt, an eight-time Olympic gold medalist, is well-known to be a United supporter and stuck by his club when asked who had the better season between the Red Devils and Arsenal.
“It’s like I’m running on a circuit and doing well and then I get to the Championship and win no medals,” Bolt told talkSPORT. When questioned on United's worst-ever Premier League finish, he added: "Yeah, but we’re in Europe."
However, despite his affection for the Old Trafford club, he explained why he was prepared to put the local rivalry with City aside when it came to the title race.
The 37-year-old explained why he preferred City to win the title over Arsenal. Bolt also gave a blunt reason why he did not want Liverpool, who finished third, to be crowned Premier League champions.

“Everybody always asks me who I’d rather win the Premier League out of Arsenal and Man City – I’m like, 'Man City, easy.' People are like, ‘But they’re your rival’," Bolt told talkSPORT.
“I know a lot of Arsenal fans and when they’re top of the table they talk so much and I’m like, ‘You haven’t won yet!' Imagine if they actually won? Oh my God, It would be over. I’d rather Man City win than Arsenal because I couldn’t deal with it.
“Liverpool? No, because they’d be tied on titles with us and we can’t have that and because Arsenal talk so much, I’d rather deal with Man City.
“They’re all young fans and I don’t know many young people so I’m fine with that!”
