Manchester United's third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton will join Gareth Soutgate's England squad in Germany as a training goalkeeper, as the Three Lions prepare to kick off their Euro 2024 campaign.
The England squad fly out to Germany on Monday ahead of their opening game against Serbia on June 16.
Heaton will not be a member of the 26-man playing squad and so is not available for selection, but instead will support the trio of goalkeepers already cemented in Southgate's plans - Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale and Dean Henderson.
The 38-year-old won three England caps between 2016 and 2017 after representing his nation at youth level from Under-16s to Under-21s.
The United academy graduate was also a member of the England squad at Euro 2016 in France, as well as the 2019 Nations League Finals.
Announcing the news on X (Twitter), Heaton stated: "Incredibly honoured to be asked by Gareth to join the squad.
"To get the call to go to a major tournament, to help in anyway I can and pass on my experience is a proud moment. We have a great squad, I’m excited and can't wait to join the group."
Southgate also commented on Heaton's inclusion, expressing his pleasure at welcoming the veteran goalkeeper to the setup.

"I am really pleased Tom has agreed to join us in Germany. Experience tells us that a tournament can put a lot of demand on our goalkeeping group led by Martyn Margetson. Tom will play an invaluable role on the training pitch supporting Jordan, Aaron and Dean.
"Off the field as someone we all know well, he will add to the positive environment we are always looking to create. We are grateful to Manchester United for their support in making this happen."
Heaton is reportedly in talks with Manchester United about extending his current contract, which expires this summer.
