A Scottish footballing legend has pledged to move out of England if Gareth Southgate's men bag the Euro 2024 trophy.

Gordon Strachan, who made 50 appearances for the Tartan Army, has claimed that while he wants Harry Kane to “win something,” the thought of England actually winning the tournament is not one he is looking fowrard to.

Speaking to Fastest Payout Online Casino, the ex-Manchester United, Leeds, Dundee, Abderdeen and Coventry City player said: “I want Harry Kane to win something significant. If we (Scotland) don't get to the final, then I wouldn't mind them winning it.

“My problem is I live in England and English people are unbearable at the best of times. But if they win this then I'm moving to Shetland because it would be extra unbearable. I would be happy for Harry Kane and maybe Phil Foden, because wherever I go, if I see them live or on TV, they make it a great experience for me. So I have absolutely no problem if those two win it.”

His desire to see Kane win something comes after the ex-Tottenham man drew a blank following his move to Bayern Munich last summer.

According to Racing Post, Kane is currently second behind Kylian Mbappe to take home to tournament's Golden Boot trophy, while England are now favourites among most of the country's bookies to win the entire tournament. Strachen's comments come just days after Wee Gord was seen waving a St George’s Cross flag, while revealing his backing for the Auld Enemy in a video posted on social media.

The former Tartan Army player and manager said: “Like everybody else, I’m excited about the Euros about to start. I want to wish the lads the very best of luck - hope you score a bucketful of goals and, if you do, I’ll be going bonkers. Come on England, it’s coming home, Three Lions on the shirt, vindaloo, Southgate, all the best, hope you score plenty.”

It's only taken two days, but it now seems like “going bonkers” means leaving the country.
