A REPORT elsewhere has claimed Saints are willing to pay up to £6million to take former striker Danny Ings from West Ham United.
The Winchester-born 31 year old scored 46 goals in 100 appearances for the St Mary's side between 2018 and 2021.
However, Ings departed in controversial circumstances to join Aston Villa for £30million on the eve of a new season in August 2021.
Ings scored once in 30 appearances across all competitions for West Ham last season, having started just seven matches.
Deal for defender Romain Perraud to move permanently to Real Betis is nearly done. Reported fee is right, in the £3million mark.

Also told there is nothing in the Danny Ings stuff - it keeps resurfacing which is strange but that's the verdict at the moment.#SaintsFC

The report details that the former England international wants to assess all options open to him this summer before making a decision.
Saints manager Russell Martin has already brought back one former player, with midfielder Adam Lallana returning 10 years on.
West Ham want to add another centre forward and winger for new boss Julen Lopetegui, the report adds.
This means are looking to recoup funds where they can and they add an ambition to bring down the age of their squad.
Saints are in the market for another centre-forward, with the future of out-of-contract striker Che Adams also unclear.
