New Besiktas boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is set to make a shock raid on Queen’s Park. The Dutchman is looking to take Anton McElhone out with him to Turkey. The former Rangers manager wants to bring in Queen’s Park’s head of youth and offer him a first-team role at Besiktas. Van Bronckhorst is well aware of McElhone from his own time in Scotland. McElhone has more than 20 years of coaching experience with Hibs, Tottenham Hotspur, New England Revolution, Celtic and Queen’s Park. Van Bronckhorst was named as Besiktas manager earlier this month. It sees him return to frontline management for the first time since he was sacked by Rangers back in November 2022. The Dutchman has bided his time and believes the Super Lig side offer him the perfect opportunity to breathe new life into his management career. Van Bronckhorst retains a big reputation due to his exploits with Rangers which included a run to the Europa League Final.
