Newcastle United have pulled out of the race to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Chronicle Live understands that the Magpies have decided to end their pursuit for the England international striker. It is also our information that Yankuba Minteh is no longer being considered for a sale to Everton after Newcastle pulled the plug on talks with the Toffees for the winger.

But it is believed that a move to the continent is still very possible for Minteh as Newcastle carefully go through each enquiry for the teenager. The Magpies want £40million for Minteh and aren't prepared to drop their demands for the star.

Marseille, Lyon, Borussia Dortmund and AS Roma all want Minteh but must come up with the asking price for his services. Newcastle were quoted what was deemed an over the top £37million demand for Calvert-Lewin.

But they will now move on to other targets as they look to add another striker to their books in the summer window. Minteh's agent had told Chronicle Live over the weekend: "I can't confirm clubs who are in communication with us. We have agreed terms with one of the clubs. So now the rest is with Newcastle."

Minteh's representative Bakary Bojang had said on Saturday morning: "It is correct that Newcastle are willing to sell the player if they receive a good offer. From our side if Newcastle wants to sell and the sporting project is good we will definitely look at it. We are in communication with some clubs."
