Sead Haksabanovic pens bittersweet Celtic goodbye as he says farewell to 'f***** massive' club before he's ready to

Haksabanovic wanted to stay at Parkhead but says others within the club felt differently and it was out of his hands.

Sead Haksabanovic has admitted he didn't want to leave Celtic.

The Montenegro forward has joined Swedish champions Malmo on a four year deal, leaving Parkhead just three years into the five year contract he penned back in 2021 after a £1.7million switch from Rubin Kazan. After featuring regularly under Ange Postecoglou, Haksabanovic found himself on the fringes following Brendan Rodgers' return to the club.

He spent last season on loan at Stoke but scored once for the English Championship side. Increased game time at Celtic this season was never going to be likely and he's now made the move to the reigning Allsvenskan champions. However, Haksabanovic has admitted that his preference would have been to stay with Celtic, but that it wasn't his decision as others within the club thought differently and moving on was his only option. Now he's hunting more titles with Malmo after helping the Hoops clinch the Treble in 2022/23.

He posted: “So my time at Celtic has come to an end, earlier than I thought, expected & wanted but some other people had another opinion & I gotta respect that. I wanna thank the players, the staff & the fans because that is really what Celtic is about. We made some good memories together & I will always have love for Celtic.

“Good luck & Celtic are f*****g massive everywhere they go. All the best for the future
