Spain were the only team to win all three group games in Euro 2024, asserting themselves as one of the favourites for the competition after finishing comfortably top of a difficult group.
Luis de la Fuente's side kicked off their tournament with a 3-0 win against a Croatia fresh from finishing third at 2022 World Cup just eighteen months ago, before beating the defending champions Italy by a 1-0 scoreline in their second match.
The win over Italy saw Spain qualified into the knockout stages as group winners with a game to spare, which enabled them to make 10 changes for their final Group B match against Albania, which also resulted in 1-0 victory.
Spain have now won their last five matches heading into their Round of 16 clash, conceding just one goal in that span, and have lost just one of their last 15 games in all competitions, winning 13 of them.
Georgia have surprised many by booking their place in the knockout stages of their first ever major competition.
Willy Sagnol's side had just one point after their opening two Group F matches in which they fell 3-1 to Turkey before drawing 1-1 with the Czech Republic, which meant that nothing less than a win would do for them against Portugal if they were to qualify from the group.
The Crusaders then delivered the shock of the tournament so far in besting the Euro 2016 champions 2-0, earning their place in the knockout stage as one of the best third-place finishers.
Georgia have now lost only one of the six matches they've played since the turn of the year and will fancy themselves to spring yet another upset on Sunday night.
Spain lead the seven-match head-to-head series 6-1 in wins, with the two nations have met twice in the last year during qualification for these European champions, in which Spain won both matches by an aggregate score of 10-2, winning 7-1 in Tbilisi before a 3-1 home win in Valladolid.
