Wilfried Zaha poised for Premier League comeback with Wolves showing interest
Wolves transfer news as Wilfried Zaha told he can leave Galatasaray in a cut-price deal this summer, just 12 months after the Turkish outfit signed him from Crystal Palace
Wilfried Zaha could be returning to the Premier League after just a year away with Galatasaray ready to offload him - and Wolves are chasing a potential transfer deal for the winger.
The Turkish outfit landed the former Crystal Palace winger last summer, but can no longer afford his £300,000-a-week wages and are happy to let him go in a cut-price deal. Figures at the club have told the Eagles and other English sides that the winger is on the market.
Galatasaray are prepared to let Zaha leave for a 'nominal fee' despite him performing well in their impressive title-winning campaign. The Ivorian scored nine times and also performed in the Champions League, but as a top earner the club need to get him off their books.
Zaha will have to accept a significant drop in salary if he does want to secure a transfer back to the English top flight. One option could be Galatasaray paying him off, which would allow him to depart for free.
Palace are among those keen - as are West Ham and Wolves - and a free transfer would make him more appealing, but Galatasaray would have to take the financial hit.
The level of the Eagles' interest remains to be seen, especially with new manager Oliver Glasner at the helm. Bayern Munich-bound Michael Olise is on his way out of Selhurst Park and and England winger Eberechi Eze, who is currently at the Euros, is interesting Manchester United and Arsenal.
Zaha would potentially boost morale among the supporters if he returned to south London and has shown himself to be a top performer in the Premier League previously. The player has rebuilt his career after moving to Manchester at a young age, with his development stalling.
He later returned to Palace, where he became their leading light after coming through the team's academy. The 31-year-old has reflected on that difficult period having been able to recover.
"Realistically I think I went through a phase where you either build from it or you die out from it," he said. "And me personally, I was never going to die out from it. It built my character. I was determined to not let my career die out because I went somewhere and it didn't work out. I was just determined to reach where I wanted to reach and I am here today."
