Tottenham have received a "verbal offer" from Ipswich Town for Wales defender Joe Rodon.

Our colleagues at football.london report the newly-promoted side have contacted Rodon's parent club as they seek to bring the 26-year-old to Portman Road.

Rodon has a host of admirers queuing up for his signature this summer, with Leeds United, Leicester City and Southampton all keen on him.

He spent last season on loan at Elland Road, becoming a fan favourite among the Whites faithful for his committed displays. The centre-back helped the Yorkshire club to the Championship play-off final where they agonisingly missed out on promotion to the Saints.

Tottenham correspondent for our sister site football.london Alasdair Gold wrote on social media: "Understand Spurs have received a verbal offer for Joe Rodon from Ipswich. Nothing formal or submitted in writing yet. As I reported before, Leicester and Leeds are also after the Wales defender, who is currently abroad at a training camp ahead of the new season."

The Tractor Boys appear to have stolen a march on Rodon, who Leeds especially are keen to re-sign for next term. Although they cannot offer him top-flight football, he has already expressed his happiness at the club.

In an interview with the Mail before the play-off final at Wembley, the Swansea product said: “It would be nice to have stability and know where I am next season. I’ve always strived to get to the elite level and hopefully I can get back there with Leeds, but you never know.

“I don’t want to look too far into the future, although I do love it here and Leeds feels like a second home to me now. I’m just concentrating on giving my best and getting this club back to where it belongs.”

Rodon signed a contract extension at the Tottenham Stadium this summer but he is expected to move on ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
